Showcasing the Latest Innovation Insights

Bringing hands on training, innovation testing and technology demonstration at scale.

Our Innovation Farm Network at Nutrien Ag Solutions represents a strategic investment in local agronomy and new technology to support our growers and crop consultants. Support from Loveland Products, Dyna-Gro and our Research & Development partners enables us to bring hands on training, innovation testing and technology demonstration at scale.

All the experiments and data captured at our Innovation Farms use commercial scale equipment, latest precision technology and production quality analytical services. This enables crop consultants in partnership with our growers to replicate the research at the speed of farming to create confidence at the most local level, our grower’s fields.

2024 Innovation Farms Results

Welcome to the 2024 edition of the Nutrien Innovation Farm network booklet. In these more than 100 pages, you’ll find descriptions of the agronomic and economic insights from the many trials completed across our innovation farm network.

Our goal is to utilize our network of innovation farms to accelerate the adoption of new technology, simplifying the message and providing science-based, data-backed insights for our crop consultants and grower customers.

At our Champaign farm, one of our trials was to try and understand if N-FINITY could interact with changing nitrogen and seeding rates to influence soybean yield. N-FINITY is a combination of soil amending microbes designed to improve nitrogen use efficiency through direct nitrogen fixation, recruitment of nitrogen fixers to associate with plant roots and liberation of organic nitrogen in the soil.  This specifically illustrates N-FINITY’s efficacy in making more nitrogen naturally available to the crop and also lends general support to the practice of supplementing nitrogen to soybeans in high-yield environments.

At our Owensboro farm, the team evaluated the efficacy of foliar magnesium applied to tassel-stage corn, both with and without a water conditioning agent in the spray tank along with an adjuvant. We found that NUTRISYNC MAGNESIUM paired with CHOICE TRIO water conditioner propelled corn yield above the untreated check and delivered positive ROI. While foliar magnesium application hasn’t been standard practice in most corn production environments, the results from this trial suggests the approach deserves a closer look.

At our Selma farm, we conducted a trial to establish yield and quality improvements in almonds using proprietary nutritional products over traditional commodity fertilizer compounds at the same NPK rate using a program approach. The farms almond acres were split into three groups, and we found that the two groups that received proprietary products outperformed the third group that received only commodity products.

At our Winterville farm, we tested the performance of Dyna-Gro rice versus future breeding lines and competitor varieties in both grain yield and milling yield. The team found that cotton yields were averaged across two on farm trials.

At our network partner farm in Hopkinsville, TITAN XC propelled soybean performance through enhanced nutrient use efficiency. The multi-year study aimed at demonstrating and reaffirming TITAN XC’s positive influences on dry fertilizer solubility, nutrien use efficiency, yield and soil test values supported higher yields in addition to increased phosphorus P1 and P2 values.

2023 Innovation Farms Results

2023 was a major year across the Nutrien Ag Solutions network. We were able to grow the Innovation Farms capabilities, reach and connections creating more value at the local and national level. See our 2023 report to review the agronomic insights on corn, soybeans, wheat and cotton from the Owensboro, Hopkinsville, Champaign, and Winterville farms from the year.
